South Korea’s youth employment support overview

The University Job Plus Center Project, supported by the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) and implemented across 117 universities in South Korea, aims to enhance career prospects for young people. From May 2024 to December 2025, the Korea Employment Information Service (KEIS) will provide an overview of this program, highlighting best practices in career guidance and job support services for students and regional youth.

The University Job Plus Center Project, funded by MOEL and operational since 2015, focuses on improving career guidance and job support services for young people in South Korea. As a subordinate agency, KEIS’s role is to offer consulting and monitoring services within this program. The commitment includes:

1.Overview of youth employment services: KEIS will provide a general overview of the services offered through the University Job Plus Centers, highlighting the program’s objectives and structure.

2. Best practice sharing: KEIS will compile and share best practices observed in the implementation of the program, focusing on effective strategies for career guidance and job support.

These deliverables will contribute to creating decent jobs for youth by:

  • Providing insights into successful youth employment support programs
  • Sharing lessons learned from the South Korean experience
  • Offering benchmark material for developing countries interested in similar initiatives

The project aims to showcase how integrated career and job support services can equip young individuals with essential guidance for entering the job market.

    Complete and publish a comprehensive 15 page overview document of the University Job Plus Center Project by December 2025
