Supporting evidence-based policies for youth

J-PAL’s mission is to reduce poverty by ensuring that policies are informed by scientific evidence. To ensure that scientific evidence translates into policy impact, we consolidate lessons we are learning from this evidence into short and actionable policy briefs, and present these lessons to decisionmakers. Through our partnership with Decent Jobs for Youth, we commit to producing at least three J-PAL-branded Policy Insights between 2024-2026 that can inform strategies to help young people succeed in the world of work. We will also present these insights to policymakers and practitioners during at least one ILO-hosted webinar or event.

Description

The J-PAL team will produce at least 3 J-PAL-branded Policy Insights between 2024-2026. Oversight of the process will be provided by J-PAL academic leadership such as, for example, Marianne Bertrand (University of Chicago) and Bruno Crepón (ENSAE and École Polytechnique). These policy publications aim to take evidence from multiple randomized evaluations of programs and distill policy-relevant lessons learned. J-PAL uses this synthesis work as a foundation for our policy outreach efforts to governments, NGOs, and other implementers to help them use evidence to inform their programming decisions about how to promote youth employment.

We will also present these insights to policymakers and practitioners during webinars and events. We would be keen to do participate in at least one such webinar or event through the Decent Jobs for Youth team between 2024-2026.
