Webinar on Making Skills and Jobs Inclusive of Young Persons with Disabilities
According to the World Report on Disability, 15% of the world’s population is living with a disability. Despite improvements in recent decades, youth with disabilities are less likely to start school or attend school than other children and also have lower transition rates to higher levels of education. Young people and people with disabilities are among the most disadvantaged groups when it comes to getting a decent job and progressing in their careers. Lack of inclusion in education and skills development initiatives for young people with disabilities exacerbates unemployment and marginal employment among a population eager to work. The COVID-19 pandemic has further aggravated the challenges of the estimated 180 to 220 million young persons with disabilities around the world.

Objectives
The webinar aims to spotlight
good practices and
experiences from around the world who are dedicated to
supporting young persons with disabilities and to promote shared lessons and call for action on collective effort to mainstream skills initiatives that lead to decent jobs for young persons with disabilities.
- Showcase solutions, lessons learned, and innovative practices of inclusive skills development initiatives which lead to improve the employment prospects of young persons with disabilities;
- Provide an open space for discussion with ILO and YouthForesight partners wishing to learn more and take action in this area including stakeholders wishing to design and implement inclusive programmes for young persons with disabilities;
