National Employment Service (SNE) joins the United Nation Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth
Through the National Employment Service (SNE), the Government of Mexico joins the United Nations Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth.
The National Employment Service (SNE, by its Spanish acronym) is committed to supporting the integration of young people into the labor market in fragile and vulnerable situations.
The National Employment Service (SNE) has joined the United Nations Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth, committing to support up to one million young people under 30 seeking employment and are in fragile or vulnerable situations in the country. The commitment focuses on strengthening young people’s skills for employability through employment and mobility services offered by the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare through the SNE.
Through the Employment Support Program and its approach targeting those who face greater barriers to accessing formal employment, the SNE facilitates Intermediation and Labor Mobility services for young people. The SNE’s 168 offices throughout the country implement initiatives such as Job Bank, Job Fairs, the virtual platform named Employment Portal for direct linkage with job offers, Workshops for Job Seekers, the Foreign Mobility Mechanism, and the linkage with the Program “Young People Building the Future” (JCF by its acronym in Spanish).
A notable aspect of the actions undertaken within this commitment is to offer young people alternative pathways for employment, such as through the Internal Labor Mobility program (Mexico) in the agricultural and services sector and the External Labor Mobility program (in Canada, the United States and Germany) in the agricultural sector, services, and others at a technical and professional level. These actions reflect the institution's commitment to young people to respond to their employment needs according to the current labor market situation.
The Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
Decent Jobs for Youth was launched in 2016 as a joint effort of the United Nations System, focused on the challenge of youth employment, a central element of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It has emerged as a global and multi-stakeholder initiative that brings together governments, social partners, the private sector, youth, and civil society organizations.
Strategic alliances and coordinated work between these actors allow them to share knowledge, benefit from resources, and take relevant measures at the national and regional levels to support young people in their insertion into formal, decent, and productive work around the world.
