Join a Global Platform for Promoting Decent Jobs for Youth and the 2030 Agenda

From October 30 to November 1, 2023, the 2023 World Youth Development Forum and the Thematic Forum on Digital Development for Youth took place in Beijing, followed by the Young Leaders Campus and the International Youth Entrepreneurship Forum in Dalian. As a partner of the events, the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth contributed to the organization of the events and shared knowledge with international stakeholders through speeches and presentations.


The ILO is committed to promoting youth development, including through the network of the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth. The Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth nominated 15 projects led by youth which were selected into the first batch of 100 model projects of the Action Plan for Global Youth Development, covering Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship, Quality Education, Digital Technology, Green Development, and other fields. In addition, the ILO facilitated a global knowledge exchange on Youth Entrepreneurship by experts from over 10 countries and 4 continents to share their experiences and good practices in empowering youth entrepreneurship, fostering a collaborative spirit resonating worldwide.


Across the world, numerous groups and organizations are working to ensure that young people have access to education and economic opportunities. The ILO, through its Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth, aims to inspire and cultivate more initiatives that empower youth, aligning with the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.


The Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth



The UN Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth is the catalyst for globally harmonized action on youth employment, in line and at scale with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It is an alliance of committed partners taking action at the country and regional level across a variety of thematic priorities, sharing knowledge & leveraging resources for more & better jobs for youth. Its goal is to scale up action and impact for youth employment through effective, innovative, and evidence-based interventions.


The YouthForesight knowledge facility, supported by over 70 knowledge partners and jointly hosted by the Decent Jobs for Youth and Generation Unlimited, offers a one-stop shop providing curated tools, publications, databases, and learning resources to support evidence-based action for supporting young people's education and skilling, employment, entrepreneurship, and engagement.


The WYDF Action Plan for Global Youth Development


The Action Plan was launched at the 2022 World Youth Development Forum. Each year, the Plan selects excellent projects initiated and implemented by young people to help achieve the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and promotes and supports them to promote the development of youth across the globe. Young leaders from the selected 100 Excellence Actions will have access to the following activities: capacity-building programs in China, international advocacy and publicity, major activities of the World Youth Development Forum, and Youth Development Pioneers Scholarship. The WDYF Young Digital Leaders Training Program


Launched at the forum, this program is initiated by the All-China Youth Federation and the International Labor Organization and implemented by China Youth Daily, Guangzhou Youth Federation, and KAB National Promotion Office. It aims to provide resources, support, and opportunities for the growth of young global leaders in advancing sustainable development goals in the digital era and jointly promote global development through digital technologies.


The International Youth Research Partnership Program


The program aims to solicit research projects from young talent research teams around the world, with priority given to research areas such as "rural revitalization," "digital technology empowerment," "scientific and technological innovation," "green development," "international partnerships" and "mutual learning among civilizations."
