ShengMa commits to enhance youth' self-confidence and leadership through soft skills training

ShengMa, mainly based in Shanghai, focuses on planning and implementation of talk events, organization of speech courses and creation of enterprise-personalized salon. The organization has pledged a commitment to Decent Jobs for Youth on improving youth’s confidence and leadership skills through soft skills training and speech event-planning.

This commitment aims to benefit Chinese students who are afraid of or failed to express themselves in good ways which cause them to miss good career opportunities. The geographic scope of our commitment will be in China. The lead entity is ShengMa and their main source of financing will be from sponsorship and sales.

In the training, ShengMa will work with different schools to provide speech courses that help improve students’ communication skills and building their confidence. They will help students to excavate their value, create their own talks and at the end, each student will have the chance to stand on the stage and express themselves. Through the practice of public speaking, students can re-examine their lives, identify their own values and learn to confidently stand on the stage. This initiative will be useful for their normal conversation, interviews for a job, or even they are trying to start a new business by themselves.

Their commitment will boost action and impact on the thematic area of Digital Skills for youth, Youth entrepreneurship and self-employment and Gender Equality to realize the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

Decent Jobs for Youth was launched in 2016 as a UN system-wide effort, focusing on the youth employment challenge that is central to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It has emerged as a global, multi-stakeholder initiative that brings together governments, social partners, the private sector, youth and civil society organizations, and others. They work together to share knowledge, leverage resources and take action at country and regional level, to support young people in accessing decent work and productive employment worldwide.
