Research on Impacts of COVID-19 on young Europeans

One year after it began, it is clear that the COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately affected young people and that youth precarity is on the rise. Therefore, European Youth Forum will undertake research to: 1) Determine how the crisis affected young European's social and economic inclusion since it began in March 2020;2) Whether youth benefited from crisis response policies;3) Identify the specific challenges that vulnerable and marginalised youth face. By analysing the youth-specific impacts, ​identifying promising practices and/or gaps in the response, our research aims to provide evidence-based policy recommendations to ensure an intersectional youth-inclusive COVID-19 recovery.

Today’s rapid societal change and technological innovation bring about new challenges for young people and their rights. Against this backdrop, the European Student Think Tank (EST) commits to support Europe’s youth through its dedicated Working Group on Youth Employment and the support of the European Youth Forum. Through creating low>threshold knowledge products and disseminating them through their networks, the EST and the Youth Forum aim to equip young people with an evidence base that allows them to make informed decisions about their futures, while advocating for governments and institutions to safeguard their social and economic rights through quality job creation.
